Clutch recommendation request
Mine is a stage-1 ‘09 Dyna FXD. I want to replace my clutch. I ride like a sane (mostly)law abiding citizen. I just want a smooth operating clutch. What do y’all like? I’ve seen a lot of “heavy-duty” options out there. I don’t need anything that’s required to handle 150 lb ft of torque.
Thanks in advance.

At 92000 miles I changed my engine to a 103HO and added a Barnett extra plate kit, I also put a heavier spring than stock, I forget exactly what it all was but it grabs very nicely.
i am very pleased with the quality and results.
Probably nothing wrong with replacing with stock, i was amazed at how good my stock plates and clutch looked when I took it out. I probably could’ve got away with a new spring only. I am not hard on my bike.

Ok. Looks like I’m going to visit the “stealer”. I have no problem buying HD oem as long as it’s good. I like going aftermarket to find lighter/stronger/better/made in USA stuff. Fortunately I have a parts dept buddy at the “stealer” who steers me in the right direction regardless.
Thanks for your guidance, guys!
Keep it shiny.. Keep it up!

Does anyone know if there is a variable pressure plate made for the Baker 9 plate clutch. My clutch started to slip the other day. I talked to Baker and they suggested I switch from synthetic oil in my primary to conventional or an ATF. I ride pretty hard and 2 up most of time. I would really like the option of a variable pressure plate as well as going to a conventional oil in my primary.

I’ve seen a lot of folk on here talk about the “added plate” when clutch replacement comes around. Seems to me there isn’t much room in the clutch for the plates to move around as it is (Harley clutches sticky?). Will not adding yet another plate cause even less room for the plates to separate during clutch use, and cause even less of a friction zone? If not, how does it improve the clutch action?
