Shift Lever Shaft Bushings?

Shift Lever Shaft Bushings?
I have just replaced the rubber spacer on the shift lever shaft of my 2001 Road King to try and stop the whole assembly from rattling. No change. It was a long shot for 56 cents.
I can tell my shift lever shaft moves a lot more than my buddy's does. I was thinking it's like the bore in the primary chaincase is not round any more. On closer look at the shop manual there are 2 Shifter Bracket Bushings pressed into that bore. I figure they're stronger than the aluminum to keep the bore hole round.
Has anybody every replaced these? The shop manual says to remove the primary chaincase and use an arbor press.

I may need to do that myself soon and think you could thread the bushing with a tap, screw in a long bolt and socket and just pull them out. Installing new ones with a bushing/bearing tool which i have. I have used that old trick before on other jobs with success. I have a complete set of reamers to clean them up if needed.
