Inner primary mainshaft oil seal won't stay in!
98 Dyna Wide Glide
I've never seen this before. When I press the oil seal into the back-side of the inner primary cover and then remove the press, the seal begins to sort of... ooze... out of the case! Within a few minutes the seal will pop out all the way.
I've installed the seal with the side labeled "Oil Side" facing into the area where the primary chaincase lubricant will reside. I've compared this seal to the original and it seems to be the same dimensions.
Since the back of this seal floats in air (i.e., doesn't abutt another part), this obviously concerns me.
Any thoughts on why this is happening and how to correct it?

Seal popping out
Too bad the manual isn't too specific on this one, eh? And it doesn't mention direction but the "oil side" facing toward the primary oil sounds reasonable as long as seal sits flush with case before it "oozes" out. And I looked in a softail & dyna book for a good picture! Seems like I remember a spring facing toward the fluid cuz I knocked mine off my '97 FLSTC (similar case design) once putting case back on shaft; does yours have? That side goes to fluid. My only suggestion is to NOT put Hylomar or any other sealant on the seal (not needed). Since it is a press fit and held in by friction, it may be "lubing" it and allowing it to pop out once in from the side pressure.
