dry, Look at the backside of the inner primary, if you have two hoses connected you are still recirculating the engine oil and don't need to add any oil to the primary itself. I've isolated my primary and I use about 7 ounces of Spectro Primary Chaincase oil in my '84 still using the dry clutch.
Don`t know if it matters wet or dry but you dont add oil to it (the primary) in stock configuration the oil from engine drips onto the primary chain then is scavenged at the bottom and recirculated into the engine,this is one reason them old shovels leaked oil all the time. Tom..
Wouldn't it be a wet clutch if there is oil in it?
Once you isolate the primary from the main oil supply there is no longer a source to drip on the chain. 6 or 7 ounces at the bottom of the primary is enough to keep the chain lubed. The plates are still dry.

Ok, got it. I was thinking a shared sump with the engine. DOH!!!
