inner primary bearing

inner primary bearing
So by the sound of things my inner primary bearing is toast! Dry bearing sound when sitting in neutral and stops when in gear with the clutch in. I just changed the compensator and the starter clutch. My questions are "how hard is it to remove the bearing & race from the housing?" Do you need a press to install the new part? Has this bearing been upgraded since there has been so many problems? Any help would be appreciated!

Not hard to remove the bearing. The race is not in the housing, it's on the shaft. That is harder to remove than the bearing. You would want a press to remove/install the bearing. You would either need the race removal tool, or you can cut it off with a dremel if you are careful (I've used the dremel before).

+1 dawg. I also recomend the Baker one piece bearing. Install and future removal are much easer and you never have to worry about the inner race moving on the shaft. I believe they have one for 08+http://store.bakerdrivetrain.com/Pro...=189-56&type=4

Mark from Baker here, we do not have the high torque bearing for your year bike. Although they are a nice unit as Soft 02 described your biggest concern should be why did it fail. Your auto tensioner is over tightening your chain. This can lead to bigger problems than just bearings. Get rid of it.

Good products! Too bad about no IPB though.
