Default Problem with the compensating sprocket

There was a noise coming from the compensating sprocket. I observed that the compensating sprocket nut was loose, so I torqued it down. But it is still making the noise when bike is warmed up and I shift gears. What could the problem be.

Did you torque to proper spec? Some have had issues with the nut having to be shimmed or shaved to grab enough.

I torqued it down properly and to spec., could it be a spun bearing?

I doubt that anybody here can put your finger right on it, but I don't think it's a spun-bearing. There are no bearings in the compensator assembly. If the spring is shot in the assembly, it will cause some noise, but did you look behind the compensator at the rotor? If the comp nut ran loose for long enough, your rotor teeth could be damaged and maybe it is spinning. It's almost impossible to get one to stay still once the splines are stripped off no matter how tight you torque it. Noise is a hard thing to diagnose if the person can't hear it for themselves, but lots of good wrenches on here will chime in with thier opinions. If it's a bearing, it would be a main or transmission main. How is your primary chain tension and tensioner?

Unhappy Vibration Eliminators on Rear Wheel

I have an 2008 Electric Glide Classic, I bought brand new on June 17, 2008. To date I have 22,000 miles on it. I had a vibration over the last month. I took in to the dealer, they could not find it. While riding my bike it quit. The Vibration compensator/eliminator that is between the rear drive sprocket and the rear wheel sheared the bolts and elongated the holes. This was a new device on the 2008 touring bikes. I have a picture of the hub with the rubber isolaters. If I could figure out a way to attach it to show you I would. I am very disappointed that this happened. It is being covered under warranty at this time. I am wondering what will happen in the next 22,000 miles.

From what i understand this is a common problem with late model comp sprockets. They are a POS. Most install a Screaming Eagle comp sprocket. This seems to solve the problem. My 07 Ultra with 13,000 miles sounds like a haybailer. Going to order a SE comp sprocket Monday. $249.95 Yes the sprocket nut is good and tight.
Sorry. I saw the Se comp sprocket thread after i posted this.
