Help installing Hayden M6 tensioner--'04 FXST
I have installed the Hayden M6 tensioner BUT two things might be a problem:
1) WITHOUT any shims, the distance between the TOP of the "C" guideplate and the BOTTOM of the shoe is 1/2 " with tensioner installed . The directions call for installation of the THIN "H" shim and measure for the 5/8". Should I install the Hayden with NO SHIM in order to be closer to the 5/8" spec? If I install the "H" shim, I am afraid it will make my chain TOO TIGHT and I will get a whine noise and cause premature wear. Bike has 8000 miles on it--NO MODS--ALL STOCK.
2) Seems that the INNER most part of the primary chain does BARELY ride on the shoe whereas the rest of the chain is fully supported. Should I be concerned?
BTW, the Hayden tensioner # is M6-BT01 (Big twin cam fits all '01 & up.)
Thanks

There is not a problem installing without any shims. Many installations do not require a shim. Hayden will tell you that. The shims are provided for adjustment to meet specs. 5/8 is recommended from bottom of shoe to top of shim/shim plate. 1/2 measurement for stroker engines.
