It would be as useless as **** on a boar hog. first your electric fuel pump has to supply the correct fuel pressure before the injectors will put fuel into the cylinders, then with the high compression engine you would have to have a manual compression release, might as well have a starter and be done with it

Alas - you can start an EFI bike with a dead battery - it just takes a bit. The biggest issue is getting fuel to the injectors. But if you have a good long down hill, or a good tow (I had a good tow) you can get it started. It takes about 2 blocks (or did for me). I have also used jumpers - and I assure you that is a much better approach.
As for a 'kick-starter' - sure, why not. If the battery is good all you are doing is turning the engine over, just like a electric starter. Well - slower I suppose.
