Default Hard shifting problems 06 FLHTCUI

Has anyone has experinced any shifting problems with the big twin? I recently took a 2500 miles trip when my problems started. Prior to leaving I had the 30K service done with all AMSOL fluids. I was about 5 hrs from returning home and needed fuel. As I was getting off the highway, it took everything I had to downshift. I checked the tranny fluid and it was full. I made it back home and returned to the shop. They said I needed an adjustment to the clutch. At first it seemed better but 45 minutes later getting off the highway, same problem. I changed the tranny fluid and it was very dark like usual. Put in new AMSOL and took it for a ride and still shifts bad. 1st gear is very hard to shift into, neutral is almost impossible. Any help I would appreciate.

Check your entire shift linkage and lube the shifter shaft. If that doesn't help try adjusting the shift pawl. Make sure you check the return spring on the pawl. If that doesn't do it then you could have an issue with the shift drum, a shift fork or the drum return spring.

If you don`t find anything wrong with the linkage, I suggest you remove the clutch and inspect the plates, especially the spring plate, it may be coming apart.

Do they still uses those? For some reason I thought they were no longer used. I had one go bad. I was thinking a clutch adjustment might but it seems like HeavyChevy just did that. It's not 100% clear.

I'm also thinking maybe the clutch cable might be getting ready to go. How does the free play feel heavychevy?
