Default Clutch cluster?

I needed to adjust the clutch on my 07 Ultra- hard shifts, difficulty finding nuetral. The adjustment procedure is simple but I have run into a glitch. After going throught the entire procedure, - by the book, I am guessing the "Ball" didnt seat? The cable seemes to make noise and it decelerates wierd- jerky. OK you wrenches out there how bad did I screw this up? Can I just redo it and get it to seat correctly? Any trick to make sure it seats?

I would try doing it again. Be sure to back the adjuster out first, before turning it back in and tightening the nut.
