groove on inside of the outer primary cover

Hey guys drained my primary fluid the other day and found some slivers on the plug so I popped it off right at the bottom pterry much under the clutch there was a groove cut into the outer case like something spinnining repeatedly cutting into the cover pulled everything out of the outer clutch hub chain sprocket and all and found nothing except some minor damage to the back of the ring gear where the starter comes through nothing to bad though any ideas what might have caused the groove thanks in advance

Some minor damage where the starter pinion comes through the inner primary? Was the clutch hub mainshaft nut properly torqued down?

With the clutch nut properly torqued grab the clutch on two sides and try to "wiggle" it. You may have a hub bearing going bad.

The bike is a 2000 titan Phoenix there was just some minor damage to a few of the teeth on the ring gear nothing major no damage where the pinion comes through not sure if the main shaft nut was torqued properly I torqued it to the proper spec when I re installed it I did wiggle it when I had the primary cover off and there was just a c hair of movement i I've been told there should be absoultey no movement and I've read a bunch of places a tiny bit is normal I didn't measure the movement but I could barley tell it was moving it was so slight that I wasn't sure if the bike was moving or the hub when I was wiggling it my first thought when I saw the groove was the hub bearing but didn't see the movement when I put it all back together maybe it just starting to go bad hopefully if that's the case it will give me a warning before it destroys my primary case I never even heard any strange noises just noticed some slivers stuck to the plug thanks for the replies

I guess I should have been more specific, you are asking questions about the driveline of your bike, so you might consider letting us know what components you have.

What type of transmission?

What type clutch?

Reikin clutch baker 5 speed
