compensator sprocket
Hi ,
I have a decent build, shown in my sig, I found my clutch was slipping so I added a Barnett HD spring, now that that is good, I was hearing this clang noise coming from the compensator area. I had it all apart today, found red stator plastic stuff from last year when I let HD change mine out (big mistake) in there cleaned it out, torqued to max spec ( 165 lbft). if the clanging continues, can there be something wrong with the compensator? The bike has 52k miles and I don't baby her one bit. Would the screaming eagle compensator be a good move, do I even need a new one?

The dealer just replaced my compensator with the SE part at 41k. Mine was making noise at start up and rattling when easing out the clutch from a stop. Noises are all gone and motor is noticeably smoother. The stock unit apparently is no longer available. The SE part is the way to go from my experience .

I was on the phone with the dealer yesterday stock part is still available and about 100$ cheaper than the SE version. But why would anyone with a motor build would replace a failing unit with the same part is beyond me.
So Screaming Eagle it is! The thing is.... now that I have cleaned it - threadlocked it and re-torqued the comp bolt, it's no=longer doing it. I feel better now though knowing what it is and at least if I hear it again I can just get the piece and change it out!
Thank you all for the replies.
