Default transmission dipstick stripped on the Allen head

I went to check my trans oil and the top of the bolt head that holds the O ring snapped off so i had enough to get my allen wrench in and thread taped it and put it in. i went to check the fluid again before i left a rally and stripped the head. Dont know how to get it out without using a welder and thats my last resort. Any help would be appreciated. im going to try and get a picture up from my phone

Yeah...I vote for an easy out. Saved my @$$ many times. A welder seems a bit aggressive...

Remove the cover that the dipstick threads into, and take it to a shop.

A good four wheel drive shop will have that part out in a jiffy, they are always removing stuck differential fill plugs that are so tight they might as well be welded in...

And you might think about how you got into this fix. There is no reason the dipstick should be tightened into the cover, it just needs to be snug.

When the head broke off, were you on the road. Just asking because why would you put a broken dipstick back in. Anyway I would get a phillips head bolt(srew), with a head a little smaller than the rounded out allen hole. Cut the head off of phillips head bolt(screw). Clean the rounded out allen hole with some carb spray, then JB weld just the head of the phillips head bolt (screw) into rounded out allen hole. Let dry and use a screwdriver to get out.

I personally don't think welding something to the top of the dipstick is that big of a deal. Just wrap the surrounding area. It will only take a few seconds to stick a flat plate to it. For future reference Snug is plenty tight enough.
