Default Screamin' Eagle Clutch Pack Installation Problems

Hello all. I searched a lot of different ways to find anyone else with this issue but came up empty so I figured I would start a thread. I am in the process of changing the stock clutch discs on an 09 FLHTCP 103" Harley to the SE Clutch Kit Pt#37980-10. My problem lies when I try to install all 9 friction discs and 8 steels there seems to not be enough room. When I try to install the clutch spring and tighten it down it wants to compress between a 1/16 and 1/8" before it bottoms out and that seems a little too much to me. I did remove the damper spring and damper spring seat so I know that is not the issue. Just for chits and grins I took out 1 steel and one friction plate and it seem to go together fine that way but that does not seem right either. Is there some depth adjustment on the clutch basket itself? Can someone please help?
Thanks,
gerby

Someone? Anyone? I was told to omit the inner concave black ring. Can anyone confirm this?

The damper spring has to be removed as per the instructions for your clutch pack

The spring is supposed to compress when you tighten the spring retainer, other wise you wouldn't have any spring pressure. Just tighten retainer bolts in a star pattern, 1 turn @ a time. - Rob
