RE: Best goggles/sunglasses for contact lens wearers??
just to add my 2 cents
i bought the panoptx (don't remember what brand) and do really like them.
but while at sturgis bought another pair (vantage) http://www.vantage-vision.com/index.asp
and so far i think i like them better than the panoptx. it is interesting in that the vantage do not have the foam around the frame but it doesn't affect the wind. supposedly because the vantage lenses are flush with the frame, there is no wind turbulence and thus no need for the foam. what i like about them is they come with 3 sets of lenses - clear, dark and yellow. the yellow work well in fog situations. if the sun is down, i really like the clear as opposed to the darkening panoptx. the panoptx seemed to keep some of the dark and so werent' as clear as the vantage. the dark for the vantage work a tad better than the panoptx. by the way - i wear disposable bifocal contact lenses. i always wear a full face helmet but only have the shield down when cold/rainy, etc. otherwise it is up. i ride with a windshield. have i have no problem with the contacts drying out.
vantage:
pros.
clear is really clear, no tint
3 sets of lenses
can clean lenses when wet
comes with nice case
cons
have to change lenses manually, not good for dark/light situations like going thru forests or mountains where amount of sun is changing
panoptx
pro
one set of lenses, change from clear to dark automatically
con
doesn't appear to completely go clear
cannot clean when wet (something about the tint rubbing off)
