Austrian Alps and down into Italian lakes
 

Summer 6 day road trip nearly here
Friday, set off and 4 hours down through Southern Bohemia into Austria and a night at one of the lakes in amongst the Alps.

Saturday, the highlight of the trip for me. The Grossglockner high alpine road. 30 miles / 48km and 36 hairpin bends over the top of the highest Alp in Austria

Sunday, back down the other side and ride into Italy stopping at a hotel on the shores of Lake Garda

Monday, ride down the shore of lake Garda and down to Verona

Tuesday, no riding, just sightseeing and a cold beer and a visit to the dealer for a Verona t shirt

Weds, 4 hours back up through the Alps and into Bavaria in Southern Germany

Thurs, the last 4 hours back home

All on a 2015 SGS with the OL.

Weather at the moment is around 34C/98F each day and forecast around the same for the next 3 weeks.

Did France , Germany , Austria and a quick zip into Switzerland last year,, stunning countries.

Sticking to Scotland this year. Doing Thunder in the Glens, then continuing on for untold days just seeing my own country.

Did a fair bit around Scotland when I was in the Air Force.
Keep saying I want to get back up around Mintlaw, Inverallochy etc then get the overnight ferry back up to the Shetlands

In 2002 we spent 18 days riding the Alps. Started at the Harley dealer in Frankfort on an Ultra Classic. Dropped south through Heldleburg, then into the Alps stayed in Leysin, Beatinburg, Andermatt, on the lake in Italy, Arabba, Salzburg, St. Anton. and a few other towns. Put almost 3,500 hundred miles on. Often went over 4-5 Passes a day. Some of the best riding we have ever done and the beer was incredible. We have been wishing to go back ever since. Maybe one summer soon.

For our honeymoon in 2002, we did a Edelweiss tour. Austria, Switzerland and Northern Italy. Best riding I have ever done, hands down.
