Hwy 191: Douglas, AZ to the Canadian border
Hi all,
Leaving 7 Sep for a 12-day, 4,000 road trip of hwy 191 then west to Glacier NP and then south back home.
Has anyone on the forum taken this trip? I've done 191 in AZ a bunch of times. Awesome from Clifton to Alpine.
My friend and I have gone over the route a zillion times and have found some side roads/attractions. Just looking for something we've possibly missed.
What better way than to hear personal expierences.
Keep hoping they open the entire Going to the Sun road by the time we get there.
Look for a nice trip report the end of September.

Ride routes
We are getting ready to do another cross-country trip this summer, our 4th since 2010. Highly recommend using the Harley tour book and utilize the yellow highlighted routes as much as possible. They have always been great, fun roads, good twisties, and lots of scenery.
If you are in the Missoula Montana- Idaho area, a must ride is Idaho State Route 12 that runs from Missoula, over Lolo pass down to Orofino Idaho. The sign tells it all, 99 miles of winding road ahead!

When you get to US160 in northern AZ take a detour over to US163 for Monument Valley. Just north of Monument Valley you'll need to look back to the south to get "the view".
If you take US89 up to Browning, MT then to St Mary, MT watch out for cattle. It's open range.
US2 around the south end of Glacier is a nice ride.
+1 on US12 in ID! To go back south, take ID13 south at Kooskia to Grangeville (nice road), US95 to New Meadows, ID55 to Banks, ID17 to Lowman, ID21 to Stanley, ID75 to Shoshone, US93 south.
At Twin Falls, ID, take US93 to Ely, NV then US50 east to UT if you like the high desert. Or go east at Twin Falls to UT for any number of roads south.
At Twin Falls there is the Perrine Bridge, Shoshone Falls (love this place!), and Evel Knievel's Snake River jump site. You can see it from the Perrine Bridge park area. It's about a 1.5 mile walk from Shoshone Falls. You can't drive to it anymore.
Enjoy the trip! Look forward to the pics.
