Ok, I had 20'000 on my last set of Commander ll's riding two up, FYI.
BOB has 19xxx on the oem Dunlops.

I run air pressure a couple of pounds above recommended pressure.

I did a bit of research into the Satelite tracker. I called HOG roadside assistance (Road America) and asked them if it was possible to initiate a tow with Texting or email, which the Tracker can be set up to do, either by itself or, or through your phone.

They where not able to answer one way or another. BUT, he did say that it could be initiated by someone on a phone anywhere as long as they have all the info they need to come fetch you and you give yout Texting contact your HOG info.

Then they can use Texting to directly communicate with you. That is what happened after I called them with the initial contact info both times this summer.

This would have been very helpful to me this summer when I lost the rear wheel bearings where I had NO cell coverage and had to hobble the bike into range.

It would save having to thumb a ride and abandon your bike and gear, or trust that a passer byer actually makes the phone calls for you.

I already ordered one.

I can see this being a very big help in "no cell" country like parts of Nevada,Idaho, Oregon..... And almost anywhere in the North. And with a bit of help, I could even update to my thread, if even just with Texting.

So because it could take time to respond when your in "The Wild", a small sleeping bag, tent, stove, pot, coffee and a can of stew would also be Benificial.

So..... I was supposed to get out of here today, but a glitch at work is going to keep me here until the first of the week. I had a new rear tire, Me 888, installed yesterday as we where pretty sure it was not going to last this next trip, and I did not want to be heading up through the mountains in October on a 10/15% tire. I also bought new rain gear. The Harley stuff looks good .... except the men's had these big orange bands across them. But the women's 2x fit me pretty good. It has reflective banding on it for low light. Cut for a woman hips, but it has pull cords and it will work.

So the oils are changed, tires are good, new rain gear and I am mostly packed. The weather looks like it is turning and there is wet in the forecast. I am targeting on heading out on Monday, and taking two days to Vancouver. As much backroad as possible. Some old, some old but a different direction, some that is been so long since I have run it that it will seem new..... and even a few bits that are brand new.

It was nice to be on the bike yesterday but mostly I have been driving the car as I have been focused at work. I have a breakfast meeting today with a VIP so I will cage it today, but then it is on the bike tomorrow...... and the good Lord willin and the Creek don't rise ..... the Harley for 5/6 weeks.

In the words of Arlo Guthrie....

"I don't want a pickle
Just want to ride on my motorcycle
And I don't want a tickle
'Cause I'd rather ride on my motorcycle
And I don't want to die
I just want to ride on my motorcycle"

Crap..... life happens.... trip is delayed, and not even sure it will happen. I am going to go sit in the sprinklers wearing my new rain gear and feel sorry for myself for a few hours .
