Nice ride last Saturday from Denver down to Colorado Springs and up Pikes Peak to the summit. Not a long ride, but a good one. The only drawback is the folks in cars that stop in the middle of the switchback / hairpin turns because they get scared all of a sudden. Hard on us bikers who have started into the turn at a steep uphill ascent. An 850 RK with a passenger on the back is hard to hold up while pointing to the sky and already leaned into the hairpin. Never mind trying to burn the clutch up to get going again. Anyway, here's a few pics from the summit.

If at all possible, go on a weekday. The place was packed Saturday and most of the plates were from out of state. I'm not a native, but after being here for 9 years it can be pretty scary around flat-landers who've never made a drive up and down a mountain. I'm glad they have the opportunity to see the beauty, just wish they'd do it when I wasn't out there!

 

Been to the top of Pike's Peak several times and to the top of Mt. Evans once. Great rides as is most of the Colorado Rockies.
