I've done it. Nothing special. Last I went Canmore took interstate. I'd rather take insterstate then stuck on 2 lane road with semis.

Sometimes it is better to cross over in small t5owns, less traffic.

Going to Banff and Jasper? Been there twice icefields are awesome.

We took Route 2 from Glacier NP all the way into Michigan, real nice road. Except for near Williston, you will have the road to yourself. Plan your gas stops and lodging in advance, not a lot out there. Overall we thought it was a great road. Ran parallel to an Amtrak train for about an hour in Montana, all sorts of cool. For my money, way better then the Interstate.

Well, the North Dakota part is much less busy this year compared to last.

Damn, I was thinking about Hwy 2 (cutting over from Glendive MT on I-94, up to Rt 2) across MT to Glacier, but people complained about heavy truck traffic on Hwy 2 and being boring. My current plan is Hwy 200 across MT, to Great Falls, then up to east side of Glacier............... but you got me re-thinking Hwy 2 ......
