There are a lot of great roads in NH and Maine within easy reach. Yes, there can be some frost heaves, as well as some roads that are awful. The Kanc falls under has some heaves. If you want flat/smooth, only partly available up here.

RT 302 & 3 that goes thru both notches, Laconia to North Conway is pretty smooth and great ride. Coast rides from MA boarder to Portland ME awesome. Can actually pick up 302 outside of Portland, and ride counter clockwise to Laconia. North Woodstock Inn and Brew Pub is awesome.

A ride around Lake Winni is great. A few heave issues. RT 109 from Wolfeboro to Rt 1 going to Arundel and Bentley's a nice ride. Or, swap onto 153 in Sanbornville, and go north to Conway, again some heaves.

Prices - it cost money to heat our homes, and plow our roads. Taxes are high in New England. Don't come here thinking you will pay sun belt prices. In a pub, a hamburger will be $12., and a Bud Light will be $4.25, and please tip minimum of 20% as our servers get paid about $2 per hour.

Thanks for sharing your pixs. Been up Mt. Washington 4 different times. 3 on my Harleys and 1 on Cog. Anyone who wants to check that place out...Please do regardless of $$$ cuz the ride up/down's can be so exciting/nervouswreck and enjoy the views cuz weather can change in no time. Just unreal, but an rewarding experience.
