Doing part of the Blue Ridge...
So this summer (August of 17) I am planing a trip down to the BRP with my brother. Due to other things we want to do we will be riding from Roanoke VA down to as far as 421. The following a couple different routes over to Bristol.
For you folks who know way more about that area, what are the potential issues with that route? Any things not to miss etc.
Any input would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

If you have time to go slightly further south of 421, there are a few fantastic overlooks right before Blowing Rock. After taking in the view, eating at The Speckled Trout in Blowing Rock would be something to consider. From there it is a short ride up 321 to get back on 421. You would not regret it.

I LOVE the BRP..... but frankly the section of the parkway between Roanoke and Blowing Rock.. is "pretty" but that's about all....the highlights in that area for ME... Mabry Mill, Blue Ridge Music Center, Mose Cone, and of course Grandfather mountain
I'd suggest taking a side trip off to Wyhteville VA and njoy some of those roads

suggested route.... BRP to Low Gap(just south on VA/NC line... north on NC-89 to Galax VA, then west on US-52 to Mouth of Wilson... follow VA-16 all the way to Tazewell VA... look at the attached map, and loop the area... or swing west to Bristol
You will have to work hard, and finding a "boring" road in the area..
enjoy
you might enjoy them (if you like curvy-assed roads
