Headed to Branson, MO

heading west on 16 from Clinton long ago, I knew a station was at highway 7, Pelsor. Got there, pulled up to the pump and my bud was like ummm.... and pointing to the 'Closed on Wednesday' sign.... uh oh.
There are spots with some VERY good food. But some areas have gas stations far between, and the one you find may not have premium gas..... little country store with low grade only. Not like out west with 100s of miles, but some good stretches. You would have to do circles to get stranded though, but then, not hard to do. The forest stretches with sparse population is part of the appeal! The Arkansas motorcycling guide tells where gas is, also.

I don't have much to add to the tips and information already given, but if you are looking for an interesting place to visit, the Copper Run Distillery is north of Branson a few miles. It's kinda out in the boonies in the middle of the country, but it's a nice ride. The wife and I rode out there a few years ago and had a good time. They have a tasting room, too! Their stuff is quite good. Well, that what I was told. I didn't try any myself. (Yeah...right! )

I have done both. The food is good and ES has some great old homes. We stayed at the hotel downtown that was kind of built up the the side of a hill. There was a town square next to the hotel where people would gather and make music at night(smoke a little) and just have a good time. I love ES.

I stay at the Hampton Inn in Harrison, the holiday inn express is next door- stayed there before the Hampton was built. The best place to eat is a foo foo coffee/sandwich shop around the corner. I stayed in Branson once when looping west and south into eureka springs, the lure of Branson is lost on me. I'll admit eureka springs is a more picturesque town but Harrison is closer to the roads that cross the Buffalo River an Mulberry Creek. It is also close enoug to make push mountain a 1/2 day loop.
Lunch is always in Oark at the Oark cafe, thanks to Nevada 72. Note the road east of Oark is not rideable on a bagger when it is wet.
