Gonna sit this one out, my son will hopefully have a build at the Born Free show in SOCal last part of June. If so then my plan is to ride the new RGU from MS to SoCal and back with the wife.

I love riding the Black Hills and enjoy the Sturgis Rally but honestly after a few trips there my next one will be ride up before the rally and spend time riding before the crowds, hit 1-2 days of the rally then head south.

Took me 20 years but finally made it and after not seeing all we wanted to see made it again the following year. If you haven't been go! A lot to see and do while out there.

...nobody can ride 1500 miles one way to Sturgis (or anywhere else for that matter)...but many, many, people of all ages, abilities, etc can ride 150 miles 10 times. All in how you think about it. Do it you won't regret it.

I went last year for my first time. We even extended the trip there by going via Canada.

Take the bike and enjoy every moment of it and in the back of you head, you will be proud with yourself in knowing that you rode to Sturgis.

I've been kicking around the idea of riding up there myself. I'm in Youngsville, La

None of my friends are interested in riding that far.. might just do it alone.

Its up to the individual person. My wife and I do a couple 4000 mile plus tours every year on the bike. Wouldn't do it any other way. Always add a couple days for a buffer against weather or repairs. It's when you get pressured, something goes wrong and kills the fun.

Coming from your direction, I would jog over to the panhandle of Nebraska 80 and drive up from the south to Scotts Bluff on Hwy 71. Incredible scenery.
