Believe it or not, our tree is near our curve. (Actually, there are several trees in KS, and a few are next to each other!) Some friends of mine and I rode to the curve in Kansas a couple years ago. We got fairly close, but none of us felt comfortable trying to negotiate it...so I took a photo and we duck-walked our bikes 180s degrees and rode home.

I always thought Kansas and the Texas panhandle were to Colorado what the Great Wall of China is to that country.

Absolutely. If one lives in the Texas panhandle, you must ride at least five hours before the ride starts. It is about five hours to the mountains of New Mexico. Colorado is about another hour and is akin to heaven for riding.
