The ultimate twisty road
Well I found what has to be the ultimate twisty road last week. If you get a chance do it but DON'T be in a hurry. For her 65th birthday I took my wife to Maui and we drove the road to Hana. Spectacular is all I can say.
Riding instructions are as follows.
Turn right, then turn left. Repeat 617 times. It's about 50 miles and it will take you two hours. Then you get to come back on the same road. Another two hours and 617 corners. The only problem is getting your ride to Maui. But don't despair. You can rent a bike in a couple of places if you gotta ride.
Check it out on Google earth or the HD ride planner.

My first trip to Hana was in a convertible Mustang rental and that very first turn that hairpins right while going up hill... its nuts. Miles down the road, we had a local on a quad letting it hang out on the turns as he drifted his way over one of the many one lane bridges. I never felt so uncomfortable on a road as this one.
The next day I had rented a Street Glide and did the same route with a smile on my face the entire time. The road to Hana is the one redeeming thing that Maui has..... one or only?

Ah, that brings back some great memories!
We rented an Ultra on Maui and of course did that road (really the only road around the island). It was a used Ultra and the idiots had it so low on oil it started to smoke and run bad - I had to stop and get oil put in it.
I recall one nasty hairpin turn on a steep uphill, where some workers were and I nearly dropped the bike at that point. Big balancing act.
Had a fantastic time.
Stop for some banana bread along the road and some pineapple - just surreal how cool the place is.
