I'm going to do Yellowstone probably within two years. Think I'm going to start doing at least one big trip a summer. Did Pike's Peak and the Colorado Rockies a few weeks ago. Next up is a toss up between the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone/Jackson Hole WY. Then who knows.
depending on when in the year go.
Yellowstone/beartooth pass is closed a part of the year.

In mid Oct. 2015 the weather looked good for a Friday - Sunday trip to Cody. We planned to ride Beartooth and Chief Joseph/Sun Light Basin. Beartooth was closed due to snow. The rest of the roads and everything in the Park were open and really fun to ride.

Thanks for posting those beautiful pictures! I'm starting to plan for the same ride next year. Do you have a GPS file or route of your trip you care to share?

I don't have anything saved on a file, but basically I rode interstate till mid Minnesota, dropped down to the Iowa/Minnesota state line and ran backroad into South Dakota, back on Interstate to Sturgis, then all secondary roads from there to Cody Wyoming and Yellowstone.
If you have specific questions I'll be glad to answer.

looks like a great trip. That bear looks fairly close to the road and the bike. Chief Joseph highway was torn up last year when we were there after Sturgis. They had it down to 1 lane and had a lead car you had to follow. How long a stretch was it?
