Eastern Idaho suggestions
Our group is going back to Yellowstone in Sept and we are in the planning stages. While going to Glacier is in our plans/wishes, I'm thinking mid-Sept might be pushing our luck. We didn't make it to the western area of Yellowstone last year so I would be thankful for some suggestions for that area. Would be open for going into Idaho if it's worth the time. Things to see, nice scenic rides in that area, waterfalls, such. Thanks in advance, Pat

Missoula- Salmon- Stanley- over the Galena Pass To SunValley- Craters of The Moon - Idaho Falls - Swan Valley- Hwy 31 - Victor- Hwy 33 to Jackson - Teton Park Rd- South Entrance Of Yellowstone...... no disappointments.
Sun Valley and Jackson are expensive.... Idaho Falls has less Expensive rooms. In Victor make a left. There is a coffee shop on the left about a block down. If you stay in Stanley you can stay in the same hotel that Frank Sinatra & The Rat Pack use to stay at when they went fishing. Stanley is a cool little town. The Galena Pass is something to behold. A lot of big sweepers, twisty highway and great Mountain passes on this route.
I have run all of it, and it is in “Journeys”.
You will be fine in Glacier Mid Sept. I think it is the best time to ride it.

Idaho is the hidden treasure of the area. CR2 nailed all the good spots and roads. We really dug Craters of the Moon. We stayed two nights in Ketchum which is just up the road from Sun Valley. Prices a little better, go to Pioneer (PIO) for dinner and get the buffalo. Can't go wrong on 75 and 93 heading north into the mountains, one of the best roads I have been on.
We went clockwise from Yellowstone, Tetons, Jackson, Craters, Ketchum, Glacier NP. Unbelievable riding.

We hit all those spots two years ago. It was all great like previously stated. I also enjoyed staying in McCall the night before we rode Lolo Pass. It was twisty with lots of trees and stuff. You can't go wrong anywhere. They had a lot of fires that year we were out so it limited us some but still was great. Have fun!
