I used Road trippers to build out the overall route.

Well planned and documented there Bradleys and those chumps you’re riding with will have a great time too I've used Columbus, Mont. to overnight often on rides and I suspect you’ll be hitting that Super 8....decent place like most other Super 8’s. You folks would probably like that 307 Bar and Restaurant in town. It’s been a solid place for locals and travelers for years. Look forward to a follow up post.

It’s been 4-5 years since I’ve been through that crossing and judging from its small size I doubt it. Maybe someone with more current information can help. I don’t recall seeing a town that you’ll be hitting twice where you could rent a box at a UPS Store, etc. going and coming. FWIW, I leave my pistol and anything that goes with it at home if there’s a chance I’ll cross any border. Border officers will know if you have a CC permit when they scan your passport but it never seems to bother them.

Is Waterton a must do? The reason I ask is that from the border to it and back isn’t that far, so you won’t miss much if you passed on it. (Although the run back towards Chief Mountain is spectacular) And you are going to be getting similar Mountains and views in Glacier. Have you thought about saving it for an addition to a Banff/Jasper run?

"Possessing a firearm for personal protection is generally NOT accepted
as a valid reason for bringing a restricted firearm into Canada, even
when traveling through to or from Alaska. If an acceptable purpose
cannot be provided, then the restricted firearm cannot be brought into
Canada."
ALL handguns are 'restricted'.
So if anyone has any ideas about shipping from one point of entry to a different point of exit or storing while entering and exiting from the same station, let me know... otherwise I will have to skip Canada on my trip.
