I traveled through thos states around 4 years back. I picked up Rt 2 north of Spokane and continued through Glacier Nat'l Park. After the park, I headed south on Rt 89 and picked up Rt 200 near Great Falls MT. I continued on 200 until Grand Forks ND where I re-accessed RT 2. Going through MT and ND, the gas stations definitely weren't plentiful, but as long as you fill-up or "top off" the tank whenever you can, no problem. It's a terrible feeling being low on gas and having no idea where a gas station is. It's even worse being near empty and making it to a gas station, only to realized it's closed! Have a great ride...the USA is one beautiful country!!

Anyone that has traveled rte 2 across the upper USA... how hard is it to find gas stations? Do I need to find them and put them in my GPS or just use the ol' start looking when you have 75 mi. left in the tank? Going through Glacier, NP on 2 rather than the really high riding to the sun with potential snow route...
skipping Going to the Sun Road? Best part of the trip IMO (unless you've already done it!)
if camping you'll already be loaded up w/ gear, toting a 2 gallon gas can on top of it.....its not like you're be in rural Alaska!
Unclear on the Indian comments....but if you are carrying a firearm research laws before proceeding....also keep your attitude in check (if you have one!).

I’m riding it from Minn through Montana before heading into Canada in late July. Already booked out my hotels due to lack of options. The hotels are listed in the route I linked below. I’ve gone through and found gas stations every 150 miles or so (riding naked street bob) across the majority of the route. If you need any help PM me. I ride a different route from Minn to Vegas every year and only ran out of gas 1 time.

where exactly are you heading 'to'? (from-to?) what time of year?

I will be riding all the twisties I can handle before I get to Glacier (14k mi +/- total and Glacier is about 3/5 of the way) ... and I will be in Glacier in Mid-July. Not particularly interested in experimenting on routes I have never taken before and I need to keep moving on this trip (65 days)... I think I will reserve Going to the Sun and Beartooth Pass for a ride next summer... and I will leave my sidearm at home and go up into Canada, too... plus I will have more time to explore.

The indian comment is that in that particular area (Cut Bank-Havre) they are the worst drivers on earth. Been run onto the shoulder twice through there and they bob and weave down the hi way. Had three at a service station east of Cut Bank a few miles hassle us a little (they all had brown bags with brown bottle necks sticking out). Nothing we couldn't handle. Just saying, pay attention.
