The Journeys of Darla ....

It was a really nice ride up through the parks to Jasper yesterday. Cool up on the passes and I had my electrics cycling on and off, but sunny and the roads where quiet. Got pretty cold up here last night, right around the freezing mark, so I was glad I had my warm sleeping gear with me. Even slept in my down jacket for a while. I am staying in Whistlers Campgound and found out they are closing it all next year to rebuild the place. So if you are planning on staying in Jasper next year, book early for the other sites. The place does need a refit, I don’t think the place has had anything done to it in the last 45 years which is about the first time I came here.
Riding up through parks in mid May is kind of cool, because the snow up high is still there and makes for a great view. Most of the high elevation stuff is still closed, but all of Jasper town is pretty much open. Even sat outside for Fish & Chips at the Jasper Brewing Company.... excellent fish, old fashioned deep fried and lots of it. The slaw was really good. And excellent service.
I am sitting in campsite having a cup a cup of joe and listening to the crows bellowing. One thing about camping is that there is nowhere to plug your phone in, and she got down to 1%. I am recharging it, and typing this at the same time, with my Energizer batter booster. Amazing how fast it is. I think even faster than a wall adapter. Damn handy tool to pack along.
If if you are wondering about the names and music under the pictures, some are from people I knew, and most of the rest are from the HDF “In Memory “ thread. I am starting from the beginning and working my way forward. The ones with music is the music I was listening to when I shot and uploaded. If I here is no music then I just don’t remember what it was when I shot the pict. I will try to upload as much as I can when I have service.
Anyway, have a great Mother’s Day. My mom passed about 20 years ago now ...... this day is for her. This is my mom and dad on their wedding day in 1945. He was a Canadian soldier who signed up the day after Canada declared War on Germany in 1939, was in most major European campaigns and ended his war in Holland, where he met my mom in 1945.

It is an unfortunate reality that as we get older the more friends and family members we lose, until it comes to our time.
The older I get the more I appreciate a saying that one of our local radio celeb uses practically everyday:
"Yesterday was a gift, tomorrow's a promise but today is a present, go out and enjoy your day"!

A nice run today. It went from 34f in Jasper to almost 90f this afternoon. I went through Mt Robson park and down 16 and then headed west on 24 to 100 mile house where I bunked down. Great roads, little traffic, and wonderful sunshine .... the crisp and clean morning air, the high elevation pine trees.... and Coppertone sunblock..... smells like summer to me.
For Norman...... Moose lake
For The “Lost Miners” ..... what else, a big Mountain.... Mt Robson

Tomorrow I will head down to 99 and go into West Vancouver “Over the top” on the Duffy lake road. I have never been in that direction on a Bike, so ..... NEW ROAD!! ..... I love new road. 24 was a new road East/West also. I screwed up on the highway from Jasper to Little Fort..... it’s not 16, it is 5.
I have more picts and updates on today, and of course tomorrow also, but I will be in Vancouver for almost a month so will do them once I am settled in.
