NW Montana is nice and remote. Roll out to Koocanusa reservoir. Cross the bridge about half way down and ride both sides. 56 is nice. Yaak. 200 along the river. On the Fly Cafe in Fortine along 93 is a great little stop. 12 west out of Lolo is nice too.

 

^^This get s a solid second nod from me. You are also within spitting distance of Bear tooth HWY (most beautiful road in America) and 16A (just outside Mt Rushmore). Iron Mt Road is more technical than the Dragon any day. Not for the inexperienced rider. I'm shocked it doesn't get more press. If you can pick only one, do Bear Tooth Pass. Summt is at 11,000', stop at a pull off and bundle up to get over the summit if needed. You'll probably see snow on the sides of the road up top. Coming in from the East is the prettiest side. Small tourist town on the west side. Plenty of T short shops, plus a few eateries.

If you get a chance, stay the night here. Owner makes a made to order delicious breakfast for all who stay outside on the griddle every morning. Can't recommend this place enough. Mom and pop place enjoying their retirement running this motel. Very nice people, clean rooms in western decor, near place to stay.
