You should be able to look at your policy/membership info and and compare the two. I do know that with Hog standard coverage you are limited to one occurrence per year and they cover up to $100 of the tow to the nearest HD dealership. Hog also has several packages that you can add on to that to expand the coverage.

The Hog standard coverage only covers one bike and is part of the reason I use AMA as it covers up to 5 vehicles including your bike, autos, RVs/trailers.

I compared the coverage a few years ago between HOG and AMA and based on the price and coverage AMA looked like a better deal to me

I can't help you with the coverage for Progressive but I am sure if you go to their website and/or look at your policy it will list their coverage details

I have HOG unlimited pick up and distance. The service is contracted out to Road America and they call whoever is on their list. I have used it three times. Twice with my ‘017 and once with my Pan. All three times it worked out well, but the first time I used it they sent me some idiots, who wanted me to sign a waver, so I called Road America back and they sent me some better prepared people. HOG gave me a year free membership for my troubles on that one.

I got the HOG one because it is to the closest Harley shop, not just the closest shop. And from the Alaska/Yukon Border it is 1,200 miles to the closest HD shop.

I called HOG roadside assistance in November. The rep kept calling my motorcycle a bicycle. Didn't end up needing them since the two closest dealers in Houston said it would be a month before they could look at my bike. I found some info here and fixed it myself. I came home and signed up for AAA though.

The best insurance is making sure the bike is in good shape -
No, you cant see it all-but do check what goes wrong with the Evo.
If you have an aftermarket Cam I stress pulling the cover and pinion nut, and clean and redo with lots of Loctite.
The pinion shaft in the evo is not tapered and prone to loosening the drive gear nut.
I would say it is the biggest weakness in the evo engine..
We always ride ours out , 1500 miles one way.
As far as insurance, my feeling is this - if it is broke bad enough that I need a dealer it is really broke.
I will put it in storage and come back and get it.
It will be cheaper.
Besides, the dealers do not even know what an Evo even is anymore!

I'll bet Progressive is better than HOG. HOG will pay for a $100.00 call, but when I tried to use it the towing company wanted $50.00 additional to do the job, 15 miles for $150.00!!!! Hog will tell you "we pay $100.00", but will not help you when the towing company wants to stick it to you you.

I had to pay the $50 in Bakersfield, but Road America refunded my payment and HOG gave me a free years membership for my troubles.
