Experienced MN motorcyclist goes missing on cross-country trip
62-year-old Sidney Joslyn left for a road trip on his bike on July 5th with his girlfriend.
The couple was riding through Salt Lake City, when she says they lost each other on the road.
Joslyn's girlfriend waited for him at rest stops, but he never showed.

Dunno.
There's a hell of a lot of places along most US interstates where a guy can be run off the road and wind up down some grassy slope or ditch somewhere, and unless someone is flying overhead you'll never spot either the bike or the rider from the highway - especially since most cagers are passing by at 70 mph or better.
It's why I plan most trips with 2 riders, and stick together.
That said, I guess if someone deliberately wanted to disappear it's a handy way to do that as well.
Tough on the girlfriend...

In this day and age why wouldn't they use Find a Friend, or Google Maps Location Sharing? The other day I lost my phone, my wife checked Find a Friend, and told me it was at the grocery store. Pretty damn accurate.
Hope they find him. If he's hurt, hope he heals. If he just ditched his girlfriend he's an ***.

there was a guy who went missing in Idaho (?) year or few back, he was on a Goldwing. I think they eventually found his bike at the bottom of a ravine and he was nearby deceased. Trying to recall details.

Salt Lake City is a pretty tough place to get disoriented. Interstate 15 runs north and south parallel to a huge mountain range. I-80 runs east into the mountains and west into the desert. There is a belt route that he might have slipped onto, but then what? It comes back to the other two freeways.
Weird situation for sure.
