Lately, it feels like the entire left coast is on fire. I just got back from a trip up to central Washington state. It was smoky all the way up to Ellensburg. As the Mrs. and I drove back through Oregon, it just got worse and worse. Hit Redding California and the visibility was down to about 1/2 mile. Even down here in Sacramento, it’s been really bad.

It sucks but this seems like the new normal. Just glad I got my summer road trip in before it hit.

I never schedule vacations past mid-July any more.

I live in E. Oregon and it's been very hot and extremely smokey here over the last couple of weeks or so. Several fires in the PNW have caused lots of smoke to filter into the area. When I ride past Pendleton, towards Hermiston and beyond towards the Columbia River Gorge, the smoke gets pretty thick. Once in awhile, the wind will help clear out the air some but it seems to be fighting a loosing battle because the smoke just comes back in. Could be much worse though, at least we don't have any fires out in the wheat fields around where I live yet.

yesterday was the worst I've ever seen it for smoke here in northwestern Alberta. fires to the west of us in BC and the right (wrong?) weather conditions made it very smoky. visibility was less than one mile.

It’s about 15 miles from the bike to the Rocky Mountains as the crow flies. So it looks like visibility is about 6 miles.

They have issued an Evacuation Alert for Kimberley. Mostly so they could get the people out of the Care Homes and into Cranbrook. That started today. I will go home after work and gather up a few boxes of the important stuff and have it ready to toss into the truck ..... for everything else there is MasterCard (and Insurance). The Pan Head is at work.... I will bring the Decker in tomorrow and take the Company Van home. That way I can take my Truck and cut and run if needed.
