Howdy everyone
just got back from Glacier National Park. Going to the sun is half closed due to fire. Only open from St.Mary to Logan’s point.
most of Idaho and eastern Washington is under heavy smoke as well.
just think August is not a great time to tour it out here on the west side.

Got back from riding down the Columbia River Gorge towards The Dalles and Hood River, much clearer than it was last weekend. I passed a couple of areas, where there had been some fires but couldn't see if anything had been destroyed except for sage brush and weeds. Hopefully they'll be able to contain some of the other fires and things will get back to normal and not as smokey as it has been.

It cooled of a bit and the humidity is up. If it stays like that they will start backfires tomorrow. That’s good news. All the folks in the Kimberly care homes are now in Cranbrook. The smoke up the St Mary’s valley is bad, but not getting any worse here. IF it heats up, IF it jumps the lake, IF gets windy, and creates its own draft from the big cool air in the MTN passes to the west, it could be in South Kimberly, also know as Marysville, in 3/5 hours. .... 600 fires in BC now..... if I wasn’t old & decrepit I would be in that fight. Kind of makes me feel useless.

I understand how you might feel useless about not being able to fight the fire but you're not useless. While the younger/stronger people can fight the fire, you can always help those that can't, evacuate to a safer area, so don't feel useless cause you're not. I'm 67 and if I was there, that's what I'd be doing.

Rocky when you reach our age you have well and truly earned the right to pass the torch to the younger folks. Let them have the adventures we had when we were young and let yourself enjoy the rest you have earned. Help where you can but forget that "useless" ****. You've bin there and done that! Now it's their turn

The smoke has returned to my area of E. Oregon and the difference is like night and day from yesterday. I try to make it a practice not to complain about the weather because if could always be worse and some of our friends up north are faring much worse than those of us that are south of ya. Hope things get better for ya soon.

Got a break from the smoke this weekend, finally!

Just a day trip, but man it was nice.
