Anybody ride the PCH yet?
After being closed for 14 months due to a major landslide, the southern part of the PCH is open again. Planning a ride up the coast soon, Ridden it many times before, just wondering what it's like now, not just the road but businesses along the way. Had to be very difficult for some of the restaurants, motels and campgrounds to stay in business due to the lack of customers. Anybody ride it since it reopened a few weeks ago?

We have a group of 16 bikes riding over from AZ on Sept 6 and taking PCH from Malibu to Monterey and reading about the section reopening was welcome news, otherwise we would have had to take a significant detour around one of the most beautiful parts of Big Sur. Looking forward to the trip!

Completed the trip last weekend with a group of 20 bikes and it was everything it was cracked up to be. Beautiful scenery and some of the prettiest coastline in the US. Stayed Thursday and Saturday night at an RV park in Malibu and stayed Saturday night in Monterey. Definitely a must-see road trip and the mudslide area is still being cleaned up with single lane traffic (north & southbound traffic alternate going thru) but safe and easily passable.

Wifey has been working down in SLO so I've been hammering this part of the coast. It rides best from South to north to avoid day traffic coming down from Monterey especially on the weekends. The approach from highway 41 through paso Robles wine country to Morro Bay is magnificent. Look for sea otters in morrow bay. Elephant seal Beach is a must stop. Whales recently spotted south of here, overlooks near pfieffer state park could be a good bet. Consider packing some compact binoculars. Great hotels and restaurants in cambria.
Traffic often heavy near Monterey and on Sunday afternoons avoid the 101. Other than that youll mostly have the road to yourself Bring layers, it can get rather chilly of a foggy morning. Road conditions are good, the weather is fine. Don't mind the fog, it'll be sunny around the next bend . This is literally the ride of a lifetime, its stunningly gorgeous, don't miss it.

Go to Point Lobos State Reserve if you have an extra hour or two.
