Every year is different up here. Rode to crested butte over monarch pass in mid November for lunch last year and it was 60+ degrees out, mid 40’s over the pass. Depends on what Mother Nature feels like throwing at us!
Heading to Vegas mid September so I’m planning on it being decent .
Good luck with the trip! It will be pretty.

Watch the weather forecast and be prepared to change plans at the last minute.
It's unusual to have a real wide covering regional storm that time of year and while it may get bad at that time of year the worst is short lived.
The GF and I are planning a lot of high country riding and camping over that time so I hope the weather holds.

Was out there last year in mid August and the weather was all over the map. A week after we got back it snowed up on trail ridge road. We got hail every single day. Beautiful country but unforgiving. I wouldn't do it again without heated gear.

Yep. I have my heated liner and gloves ready to go.

How did you deal with the hail?

Not well. I ended up with both lips split and bloody. I would take a clip on shield for my helmet next time.

wow - okay; sounds horrible. I always have a shield on my helmet so that's not an issue but I'm worried about the bike - I guess I have insurance if that happens. I've been warned about hail a couple times now

A tarp is your friend. I always travel with one. I keep it under the cooler, where it's easy to grab.

We have been hailed on in July riding from Aspen up Independence Pass. It was 85-90 in Aspen and 3-4 inhes of hail on the way up. We just pulled off and turned our backs the the hail, it was over in 20 minutes or so. Had to ride through the hail on the road but it was melted off in less than an hour.

Well, today on the Northern Front Range we are expecting a low of 14 degrees and we have about an inch of snow on the ground at 5000 feet of elevation.

If you live in Vegas please consider the southern route through Utah (Zion-Bryce-Bluff) to Cortez and the route up through Dolores Canyon - Ridgeway - Durango - South Fork - Gunnison - North Rim of the Black Canyon - Grand Mesa - I-70 to Silverthorne - NE to Grand Lake - Rocky Mountain National Park - ...and home whichever way you'd like. With this route you'll see most of the highlights of Colorado (except Pikes Peak and Mt. Evans).
