Recently got home from a 5567 km ride to Red Rocks Amphitheater to see my favourite band Tedeschi Trucks Band. On second day set out to do an Iron Butt 1000. Over 900 miles behind me the sky got very unfriendly. Learned two things. Don't f@&k with prairie weather and there are VERY few overpasses on I-76! Just past Sterling Colorado the threatening sky let loose with softball sized hail. Got her stopped and took shelter I a kind young man's car. The hail destroyed his windshield. Fifteen minutes later hail let up and I was able to get my miles in only to find there was no vacancy from my side of Denver to Colorado Springs. Very lucky to find an agreeable desk worker that let me sleep on a lobby couch. I was bruised literally and my bike battered some. Got some of the band to sign my dented front fender. In addition later during a beautiful mountain ride a deer, a big deer was dealing with the pickup in the oncoming lane. The deer missed me or I missed him however you want to look at it. Great trip even with the "events." Derek Trucks even autographed a pic of one of my bruises.
