Default Lincoln, NE to Aurora, CO on October 13th. Crazy?

My girlfriend has a family thing that week and she wants me to come meet her and I thought about one last trip on the bike for the year. I've been to Colorado many times but always in the summer. Would it be silly to attempt this? I'm worried about weather too cold for riding and maybe even snow once I get into a bit of Elavation.

Do you guys think it's a bit too risky halfway through October?

It'll be hit or miss. Keep an eye on the weather and make a last minute decision. Been pretty chilly in the morning here recently. 30-40 degrees. If you have proper cold weather gear, and don't mind cold, go for it. Daytime temps will be nice as long as the sun is shining.
I'm just a few miles from Aurora.

Probably not. It snowed here in Montana today, better play it safe this time of the year.

Hill City (in the middle of the Black Hills) got 6" earlier this week.

The odds are that it won't snow, but there is always a small chance it will! Most likely, it will be pretty cold, at least in the morning!

I wouldn't, the way our weather's been lately, you're likely to hit a blizzard there and/or back.

It can be sketchy that time of year. Just look at the weather forecast prior to leaving and make a decision.
