Lodging in Milwaukee

I can't remember the name, and it's probably long gone by now but we went to Milwaukee in '93 for the H-D Reunion and we stayed in an older hotel (as in no A/C) downtown that was conveniently located near an old multi-story building that stored motorcycles on the second floor (via freight elevator) and they had 24 hour babysitters!
I thought my wife was going kill me when I told her that we had no A/C (she flew in) in the room but once the sun went down there was a cool breeze and they had window screens that made it very comfortable.

Hey Daniel55, thanks for the honest feedback. I see you're in Milwaukee so you would know lol. It's that bad, huh? Seems like a lot of the bigger old cities have been working on making it more attractive to come in and spend the night but I guess Milwaukee hasn't. I don't live in L.A., about 40 minutes away but I would tell you the same thing, steer clear it's a **** hole.

Dear Glideman,
It's ok during the day in the downtown area. It's just that at night all the trouble comes out. Early evening around the museum and to the south of it, there are nice places to go for drinks and something to eat. Highway 100, S 27th St or by the airport are you best bets for a room. Have fun! BTW I can't believe in my first response I wrote "**** hole" and it was edited out. Is that what it has come to on this forum? Christ sake.

Glideman,
I'm another vote for the Iron Horse. It's pricy yes, but you're crawling distance to the Museum. They have motorcycle only parking and a place to wash your motorcycle. They -have- rags and soap, but I'd grab a few microfibers and maybe a small volume of your preferred soap. They have two bars, one outside, and it has a nice patio. I don't know if you play, but there are dartboards on the patio as well, so you can bing your along if you're so inclined. I keep threatening to try to get better. The restaurant is good, and like I say, a stones throw from the museum. Across the roundabout there is [verify..?] a distillery with tours and bar with various cocktails if you'd like something fancy. Continuing there is a Mexican bar, then a microbrewery type place. Lots of bars in the area but the three mentioned were a lazy walk from the front doors of the place.
Check availability, and remember Uber was there when we were, so we saw a baseball game [+ beers]. Powertrain and HQ are better than a walk away - I'd ride there...
Have a great time. We enjoyed our time[s] in Milwaukee. We'll be going again, hopefully soon-ish.
