WY/Montana 2019 Trip

1 Attachment(s)
Perusing through other posts and locations, to eventually head to Glacier NP around September.
Hoping Day 2 to arrive in Riverton, WY.
Then Day 3 to Yellowstone, Cody - Red Lodge (Chief Joseph-Beartooth).
Day 4 Helena
Day 5 Glacier.
Buddy that's always gone with me may or may not make this trip, but I'll go solo dammit !
Any Zombies on this route I need to avoid, suggestions ?
Thanks Guys ! Never been to either of these locations.

Looks good.... Check this out on the map.....From Red Lodge head up 78 to 90, then west to 89 up to 12 and West to 287..... nicer than the Slab.

Once you head up out of Helena, at the top of MacDonald Pass there is a short ride to a great look out. It would be on your left. A bit of gravel but a decent road.

If you have time, do Glacier in both directions.... just remember, you will be lucky to get to 30 mph on that road because of the cars.

Great Thanks ! Adjustments made. So I'll go to St Mary (Going to the Sun) and back down. September a good time to go ?

The two weeks after labour day are good for both the Beartooth and The Road To The Sun.

Nice !!!! We did the same route ...209 through Flathead National Park is nice...we stayed in Columbia Falls Montana...real close to Glacier....saw mountain lion cross the road in Flathead NP....but we did the trip last week of July.....during the year of the fire (3 years ago).

Thanks ! Will check out 209. I know there is so much to see in this area, and trying to not miss too much, as its a on another planet vs where I'm at.
Note to self, take rifle !

I stayed in Columbia Falls too. Nice town....wasn't super touristy thankfully. 24 hour grocery and gas was useful rolling into town late.

Not seeing it in your mapping.....if you don't have the Chief Joseph on your route- put it on. Maybe worth a days stay in Cody.

Wondering what your route home looks like.....lots to see in Western MT & ID. Even the interstate is good.

how much time are you spending on the road?

Lolo Pass, Route 12, Lewis and Clark Highway is a must if you're digging deeper through that region.

Buy some local huckleberries in northern MT. Multiple roadside stands.

Yes, was going to hit it from Cody to Red Lodge. "Home" is where the Heart Is ! ha Retired last year, no time table unless the crotchety old fart tags along, then may have to miss some things.
Thanks for the info !! Will check those routes out. Haven't started looking at the route back yet.

Def a must see: https://www.gonorthwest.com/Montana/...ose-island.htm

maybe consider heading 'back' down thru Idaho, some spectacular riding there.
Coeur d'Alene would be a good place for an overnight.

Sawtooth Mountains are ridiculous.

Route 21 out of Boise comes to mind. Good riding, no crowds.
