40 is a nice ride through the Ocala National Forest. The Blackwater Inn is on 40 in Astor, Florida on the banks of the St. Johns river. Nice place to stop if you're anywhere near mealtime.

95 is the safest weather wise. BTW, I've been going to Bike Week since the late 70's and I still enjoy it. Hundreds of thousands of bikers, relaxed atmosphere and warm (compared to the north) weather in March. What's not to like?

We are leaving about the same time from Ct. Going to take 81 down and bypass all the crap down 95. Was thinking of hitting 78 off the turnpike and cutting over to 81. Possible taking 84 thru NY till Pa then 81. I think 81 will be a better route for you. Lest congestion. Safe Travels

I live right off I81 and have ridden it down to Fla several times. Just remember if its snowy, you will be riding in snow/slush around Bristol and on I 77 through the mountain pass into NC. I've done it, you need to be ready for it.

After Chesapeake Bridge, 17 is a viable route all the way down to Savannah. We did that to Myrtle Beach a couple of times from the Island, nice two lane road. If it does snow, get back to I-95. Not a lot of snow plows down south and the ones they do have will be on the interstate, not country roads.

We road to Daytona once with our Road Glide, for Biektoberfest. We did that because the weather in March is far too unpredictable. October seemed more reliable. Just got on 95 and banged it out, two days and we were in the sunshine.

I'll be riding down in 2020, can't get away this year. I lived in Jax for 12 years and did Bikeweek and Biketoberfest every year. Had a blast every time. Enjoy it!
