Default Suggestions for a 4 day trip Leaving from Birmingham.

I have a 4 day weekend coming up towards the end of April. I’ve got a bike rental lined up and I’ll leave on Friday morning and need to have the bike back by noon Monday. I’m just not sure which way to go. Birmingham is 4-6 hours away from a ton of neat places. I’ve never been to New Orleans and I think riding the swamps would be awesome. Am I wrong? Savannah sounds neat but is there good riding between here and there? Part of me wants to really push it and go to Key West and back because the overseas highway is at the top of my bucket list. Suggestions/advice please!

Yep, what he said. Key West is a long ride and I think you would be humping it just to get there and back. Over seas Hwy was OK., but not as awesome as I was expecting. Just straight roads in LA and Savanah. Both NOLA and Savanah can be fun playing tourist there, but not riding. JMO Now the mountains are really fun riding. And you can be there in a few hours.

What about east Arkansas ? I have family outside of Memphis (Germantown) I could drop in on. I've ridden out there several times, but never just to go riding. It's always been a there and back trip.

Start with a trip through the Barber Museum; it's absolutely worth it.

We rode northern and western Arkansas and had a blast. On the way home, we went east towards Memphis. It was flat as a pool table. About the only interesting thing I remember seeing were crop dusting planes flying right over the road in front of us.

I agree with riding the Ozarks. But, that’s more than a 4 day round trip.

Take 22 toward Tupelo and head over to Clarksdale to the Juke Joint Festival April 13.

Stay at the Shack Up Inn (look it up).

From there head up or down the Natchez Trace (Nashville North, Natchez South) and back home.
