Ok Piper, thanks for the heads up. The snakes won’t stop me from camping, but maybe I will refrain from collecting my own firewood and just spring for a bundle usually available from the campground host.

Arkansas in May, ticks are more threat than snakes.... Make sure you don't get any unwanted riders. More present in leaves and tall weeds.

Thanks for the heads up Road King. In the past, I have done most of my camping in late summer or early fall, so bugs were not much of an issue. For this trip, I am bringing along a head net and plenty of DEET.
