Nice. I did a few miles of that a couple of years ago on my way to Death Valley.

Looking East on 50 .... Eureka is on the other side of those distant Mountains.....

It’s called The Loneliest Highway, but it is a veritable freeway compared to Nevada 278 & 376

Today’s ride was from my house to Hwy 49 to Hwy 88 to 395 to Hwy 50 and now holed up in cheap motel in Fallon, Nevada.

The weather was perfect. There is quite a bit of snow on Carson Pass which a little more than 8000 feet of elevation. The road however is clear and all the sand they put down for traction in winter has been cleaned from the road so Carson Pass is fully capable of navigation by motorcycle. We brought some grilled teriyaki chicken and potato salad that I made. We ate that up on the pass.

Silver Lake and Caples Lake are both still frozen.

Maiden voyage of my new Harley Davidson “Rolling Touring Bag” which was a little expensive but works great so worth it I think. It has wheels on it so when you get to the motel you can take it off the luggage rack and roll into your room. Simple, easy, nice.

Tomorrow’s leg of the trip is to Ely, Nevada. We still have some leftover chicken and potato salad so will just eat that for dinner. I’m going to walk over to the store and get some beer.

Later,
MC

88 over Carson Pass is one of my favorites.
Lookout at Hams Station is breath taking.

They are building some brand new vacation cabins there for rent. They look nice.
