Motorcycle Hire Help - LDW/CDW deductable/excess insurance???
Hi All
Looking for some hiring advice please
We are travelling from the UK and hiring two Harleys out of Canada for 36 days to tour Alberta, BC, Montana, Idaho and Washington state and are looking of a way not to take the rental company LDW as its really expensive.
I've done a little research and found that many companies seem to offer Car Hire Excess Insurance on a trip or annual basis. The cost of this ANNUAL cover is about £40 which is about 68CAD. The rental company want 50CAD per DAY per BIKE!!
Does anyone know of any insurance companies that can offer a policy to cover LDW/CDW on rental motorcycles please?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Ruth

Here in the states many credit card compaines give that type of coverage on rental cars if you use your card to pay for the rental. I'm not sure about motorcycles, never rented one.
I did try some google searching and came up with this company that gives worldwide insurance for motorcycle trips for UK residents.
https://www.worldwideinsure.com/moto...-insurance.htm
I know nothing about them other than what their website says.

That was real popular when I lived in Australia. Folks would fly in, buy a used bike ride it around the country for a month or two, then sell it to a dealer before they left. Sure you are going to take a beating, but it's still less than a rental. Here in the US you could sell the bike on Rumble On, heck you could check Rumble On for a price before you buy the bike so you know how much it will cost you.
A 39 day rental of a Electraglide from Eagle Rider is going to cost you almost $5,000 and that's without the additional insurance.
