How much weight?

When you're loading up, how do you guys decide what your max weight should be?

GVWR? Tire rating? Trial and error?

One map light of needing a trailer...

1,200 lbs wet, all-in, on a 13,000 mile Alaska Rounder, via California & Ontario ... dog stayed home.

Would like to say we do all that, but can’t. :icon_shrug:

Crank up the preload, check tire pressure, get the heavy stuff as low as possible, and go. So far so good.

I have 15 lbs in each saddlebag with my tools on the bottom.
I have 28 lbs in tour pack.
I have 20 lbs in waterproof bag in passenger seat.
I have a 1.25 gal rotopak gas container on tour pak rack which, when full, weighs probably 10 lbs.

I run 30 lbs of air in shocks and 38 lbs in front tire, 42 in rear tire

2 lbs in rear tire.

To be honest I've never considered weight. I can only carry so much on a bike and figure at most it would add up to having a hefty woman on the back as opposed to a little one

I see 400 lb guys with 350 lb old ladies all the time riding. Keep things balanced and you'll be alright.

Think I met that couple one day. She said they were riding to Vidor.

I like to keep things simple so all I do is, check my back tire pressure and add a little if I feel it's necessary than just try to balance my load as much as I can. I've honestly Never weighed anything.

I have never really worried about weight. Just make sure my rear tires are at 42 lbs and front at 40 lbs. I never have a passenger so I look at all my luggage not coming close to what a passenger would weigh

And some of that weight is meant to get wet, and not whine about it.
