We made better time on our return ride (10 hours vs. 11), despite having to get the rain-gear out for a 45 minute stretch. Just over 1,500 miles in the five days.
We've learned a few things from this experience that we'll apply going forward, such as:
500 miles a day is just about too much for my wife; we'll likely limit our future 2-up rides to no more than 400 miles a day
We THOROUGHLY enjoyed traveling as a small group (2 bikes / 4 personalities); made it easy to find common ground and enjoy ourselves - no stress / no drama
Chocolates don't travel well in a saddlebag on a summer day.
Noise-cancelling earbuds or hearing-protection will be a must for our next trip; our bodies held up well but the "noise fatigue" is real
The Ultra Classic seat and the Pro-Action shocks made for a very comfortable ride - night and day difference
Overall a great time and looking forward to the next trip!

Excellent updates! I wondered how it was going. My wife and I just returned from a trip into Virginia and I didn't have a chance to read these forums. Sounds like you hit several of the high points and had a great time. Be safe and ride on....
