I went last year and also don't like the big crowds and high traffic - not a partyer or drinker. Went the week before and had a blast. Riding was spectacular. Most vendors are there the week before. Left to come back home on the Sunday of the rally, so was able to get the full experience Friday and Sat.

I plan on going and possibly leaving from NJ around July 30th and camping at the Shade Valley Resort (stayed there last year). Last year I pulled the Bushtec trailer, but I think this year I'll go light. If anyone is interested in tagging along, let me know.

Buddy and I are going from BC. Riding to LVNV first. Then up through NM and Colorado. Try to see Pike's Peak and Mt Evans.
I've managed Mardi Gras and Bike Week this year. Also the Dropkicks in Boston for St Paddy's Day. It's been a good sabbatical. Did all the fore mentioned on my FLHXSE. Wife was on the 09 FLHX with sidecar. She's not coming if to Sturgis. I've been '10, '14 (pre), '15 so this makes number three during. Yeah it's retarded but it is fun. Trying Deadwood and avoiding being "mudlocked" at the Chip. No bands I really wanna see.
Anyhow buddy on his 15 FLTRX. Not over 1000mi days, but a few in the 7-800 mi days.
Need a job upon my return.
Ride safe where ever the summer takes you.

Priceline and I have cut a deal for a 3 night stay in Rapid City starting Tuesday the 6th and checking out on Friday.
3 days on the ground, I'm hoping there's good weather all three. Maybe one day into Sturgis proper, a couple of other days around the area then head on out for Colorado and beyond.
